Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As a Triage Specialist, you’ll be the first point of connection for our clients—playing a vital role in guiding individuals to the right support when they need it most. You’ll deliver empathetic, professional, and responsive service across phone and email, ensuring every interaction is handled with care and confidence. From managing referrals and coordinating urgent appointments to navigating complex cases, you’ll use your strong communication skills, sound judgement, and attention to detail to connect clients with the most appropriate mental health support. Working at pace, you’ll ensure all referrals and enquiries are processed accurately and within service level commitments, while maintaining clear communication with both clients and practitioners.

In this fast-paced, purpose-driven role, you’ll take ownership of daily case management, including critical incidents, while maintaining high standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical practice. You’ll contribute to seamless operations through accurate documentation, proactive email management, and collaboration with your team, while also supporting related administrative and account enquiries where needed. With a strong sense of integrity and clear professional boundaries, you’ll utilise supervision and continuous reflection to grow and thrive in this front-line role. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based in our Christchurch office, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Proven experience (3+ years) delivering exceptional customer service in fast-paced, client-focused environments
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent practical experience
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to connect, influence, and build trust with a wide range of people
  • Strong judgement and professionalism, with a deep commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice
  • Resilience and composure, thriving under pressure while managing complex and sensitive situations
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, multitask, and deliver with accuracy
  • High attention to detail and strong administrative capability to keep everything running seamlessly
  • Confident across core Microsoft systems including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • The agility to adapt quickly and respond positively to changing business needs
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse communities
  • Experience within healthcare or a related sector (highly regarded)
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard hours when required
  • A genuine passion for mental health and supporting people through meaningful work
  • Strong intuition and sound decision-making to navigate complex situations with confidence
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand
