Post Graduate Computing Lecturer
Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
We are seeking a part-time (0.4 FTE), fixed-term Post Graduate Computing Lecturer to join our School of Computing team in Auckland for the period 1 January 2027 to 17 December 2027. The successful candidate is expected to commence employment in January 2027.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $86,000 and $100,000 (pro-rated to FTE), dependent on skills and experience.
The Post Graduate Computing Lecturer is based in our School of Computing, reporting to the Head of School, and will be responsible for:
- Delivering postgraduate courses in data analytics, digital technologies, and related computing disciplines using engaging and student-centred teaching practices.
- Developing, reviewing, and enhancing curriculum, learning resources, and assessment activities to ensure academic quality and continuous improvement.
- Supervising postgraduate research projects, applied industry projects, and dissertations while supporting excellent student outcomes.
- Contributing to research, scholarship, and professional activities that enhance programme quality and industry relevance.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with students, academic colleagues, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
- Designing and delivering learning experiences across face-to-face, online, and blended learning environments.
- Assessing student performance and providing constructive and timely feedback to support learner achievement.
- Participating in moderation, course evaluation, and quality assurance activities to meet academic requirements.
- Maintaining accurate academic records and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Contributing to programme planning, team activities, and initiatives that support the strategic goals of the School of Computing.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- A postgraduate qualification in data analytics, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline.
- Tertiary teaching experience, preferably within postgraduate computing, information technology, or data analytics programmes.
- Strong knowledge of data analytics, data visualisation, advanced mobile and wireless technologies, or related computing disciplines.
- Experience designing, developing, and reviewing curriculum and assessment materials.
- Experience delivering education across multiple learning modes, including classroom, online, and blended learning.
- Proficiency with industry-relevant technologies and tools such as Python, R, SQL, Power BI, and learning management systems.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse learners.
- Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience supervising postgraduate research, dissertations, or applied industry projects.
- A commitment to student success, continuous improvement, professional development, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
