Make a difference with Surf Life Saving New Zealand

Since 1910, Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) has been at the heart of keeping Kiwis safe in the water. Every summer, thousands of volunteer surf lifeguards give their time to protect lives and prevent drownings on beaches across the country.

We’re a charitable, volunteer-led organisation delivering vital lifeguard services, emergency call-out response, beach safety education, surf sport events, and world-class training. Proudly not-for-profit, we rely on the generosity of donors, funders, and partners to do what we do.

We’re looking for an Office and Team Support Lead to keep our Auckland office running smoothly, providing vital support to our leadership team and Board. This role is ideal for someone who loves variety, enjoys bringing people and events together, and thrives on making sure things run like clockwork.

About the role

As our Office and Team Support Lead, you’ll be the key link that keeps the Auckland office humming, and our leadership teams supported. Your days will be varied and rewarding.

  • Office operations – keep the office running smoothly, manage supplies, and coordinate maintenance or equipment needs.
  • Governance support – provide high-quality secretariat support to the Board and key committees: prepare agendas and minutes, meet constitutional and regulatory deadlines, and liaise with Chairs and secretaries.
  • Team support – assist staff with scheduling, reports and internal communications, coordinate onboarding and training for new team members.
  • Event coordination – plan and deliver events such as the Northern Region Awards of Excellence, the SLSNZ AGM and Staff Conference, and support other team-building activities.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same and where your ability to keep people and projects organised will make a real difference.

About you

You’re an experienced administrator or coordinator who enjoys variety and thrives in a team environment. You bring:

  • Proven experience in administration, operations, governance or a related support role.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confident minute-taking and preparation of high-quality documents.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 and (ideally) experience with board portal or document-management software.
  • A collaborative, positive approach—you’re proactive, reliable and enjoy helping others succeed.

Why Us?

We offer a genuinely supportive culture, opportunities to grow, and plenty of variety—from beaches to boardrooms. You’ll enjoy flexible working arrangements and the chance to make a real impact as part of one of New Zealand’s most trusted volunteer-led organisations.

How to Apply

If you’d like to join a team that has each other’s backs and makes a real difference in our communities, we’d love to hear from you.

Send us your CV and cover letter by 5pm, Friday 3rd October 2025.
