The role
This is not your standard machining job. No two days are the same. Our clients cover everything from sawmills; meat, food and beverage processors; fishing companies; other engineering businesses, as well as central and local government. So, as you can see you will get to work on a really wide variety of jobs for an equally diverse range of customers, and in a role that will let you continuously upskill.
This role will give you access to CNC and other modern technology such as 3D printing so you will be able to stretch your existing programming capabilities as well grow your drawing and design skills. In fact, Kernohan has a strong training and development culture. We want our people to be in demand because they have built skills and abilities they didn't always arrive with.
About you
You could be an experienced tradesperson looking for something fresh and more challenging or an aviation engineer or automotive machinist wanting to expand into wider engineering. Ideally you will bring the following:
- A relevant and recognised trade qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years hands on experience
- Strong practical working knowledge & skill using machines/equipment in a machine shop environment
- Exposure to metal spraying, portable line boring and CNC machines would be beneficial.
- A current Forklift licence (F endorsed).
- Current driver licence.
On top of this if you are someone who is a flexible, outside the square thinker who responds well to being given the opportunity to use your initiative to find solutions for customers, then this role will definitely tick that box for you.
