Mō mātou - About us

Our Enliven services create age-friendly communities where people are happy and thrive, regardless of their age or ability. Our homes and villages are places where older people have companionship, choice, variety, fun, meaningful activity and a sense of purpose.

Enliven is a not-for-profit service providing aged residential care to older people in the lower half of the North Island.  We believe older people should remain connected to their community and live stimulating and fulfilling lives.

It makes us a great place to work and one where you will be able to thrive and deliver the best of yourself.  Come join us today!

Mō te tūranga  - About the role

As a Kitchen hand, you will be responsible for assisting the Food Services Team Leader to prepare and serve tasty and nutritious means for lunch and dinner.  Confidence in the kitchen with meal preparation is important along with the following:

  • Prepare morning and afternoon tea, as well as daily mealtimes
  • Clear tables when all residents have finished eating
  • Ensure meals are served at the appropriate size and temperature
  • Maintain daily food and fridge temperature checks
  • Operate within food hygiene standards and protocols
  • Be considerate of residents during mealtimes and ensure their needs are met appropriately

As there will be a requirement to carry out meal preparation, some flexibility regarding daily duties will be expected to meet the needs of the kitchen.

Hours are 24.5 hours per Fortnight and include every second weekend. Forget those long evening shifts and lack of social life, it's the perfect hospitality role that enables you to enjoy some work/life balance. There is a possibility of additional hours at times to cover leave and so flexibility and willingness to help at these times is always appreciated!

Mō koe - About You

As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills and sense of humour. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. You will also have:

  • Experience working in a kitchen (preferred)
  • Good communication skills and have a person centred approach
  • High standards of personal hygiene and appearance
  • If you hold a food safety/hygiene certificate, that would be great but if you don't have one we can train you in what you need to know
  • Enjoy being able to contribute to the work of your team and how this impacts the experiences of our residents

What’s in it for me?

  • A progressive pay scale starting at $23.60 - $25.48 based on skills and experience.
  • As a learning organisation, you will be provided with full training and support in your role, so you orientate quickly and feel well equipped in your role.
  • Enliven may facilitate you in gaining qualifications while you work, so you can develop your skills and career
  • Benefit from our staff well-being calendar - regular events and programmes to promote wellness for all of us
  • Being part of a values-based organisation means we care for each other; we care about what we do and how we do it
  • Be part of a supportive team environment and get job satisfaction from being of service to others
  • No evenings or late nights in our kitchen, unlike other catering or hospitality roles!
