This role is Monday to Thursday 30 hours per week.
The Kaitūruki Day Activities is responsible for planning, coordinating and facilitating therapeutic, recreational, cultural and community-based activities that support the recovery and wellbeing of tangata whai ora accessing Te Oranganui services. Working from a strengths-based and recovery-focused approach, the Kaitūruki encourages participation, skill development, social inclusion, self-determination and whānau engagement.
The role works closely with tangata whai ora to identify interests, strengths and goals, translating these into meaningful day activity programmes that support mental health, addiction recovery and overall wellbeing. The Kaitūruki monitors wellbeing, identifies and reports any changes to keyworkers and clinical staff, supports community participation, administers medication in accordance with organisational policies, and contributes to a safe and welcoming environment.
Collaboration is a key component of the role, requiring strong relationships with internal teams, health and social service providers, whānau, iwi and community organisations to ensure coordinated and holistic support. The Kaitūruki maintains accurate documentation, participates in quality improvement activities, engages in regular supervision and professional development, and actively contributes to the kaupapa and values of Te Oranganui.
Through a commitment to Kotahitanga, Whanaungatanga, Pono and Tika, the Kaitūruki helps tangata whai ora build confidence, strengthen connections, develop practical skills, and progress towards their individual and whānau aspirations while upholding mana and supporting positive wellbeing outcomes.
