Kaitūruki - Hāpai Rangatahi
Are you passionate about supporting rangatahi to achieve their goals and reach their potential?
Te Oranganui is seeking a Kaitūruki Hāpai Rangatahi to work alongside rangatahi aged 18 to 24 years, providing coaching, mentoring, advocacy, and practical support to help them move into employment, education, training, and positive wellbeing pathways.
Working within our Toiora Whānau Service, you will build strong relationships with rangatahi and their whānau, supporting them to identify their strengths, overcome challenges, set goals, and achieve positive outcomes. Using a strengths-based and kaupapa Māori approach, you will help rangatahi build confidence, develop life skills, and work towards their aspirations.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Providing one-on-one and group support to rangatahi.
- Helping rangatahi prepare CVs, complete job applications, and develop interview skills.
- Supporting rangatahi to access employment, education, training, and apprenticeship opportunities.
- Assisting rangatahi to gain their driver's licence and other work-related qualifications.
- Working with rangatahi to develop plans that reflect their goals and aspirations.
- Connecting rangatahi with services that support their health, wellbeing, and personal development.
- Monitoring progress, celebrating achievements, and encouraging rangatahi to stay engaged with their goals.
- Maintaining accurate records and completing programme reporting requirements.
A key part of this role is building relationships with employers, training providers, iwi, hapū, community organisations, and other support services to create opportunities for rangatahi. You will advocate for rangatahi, support their transition into employment, education, or training, and help them stay connected and succeed.
Whānau play an important role in a young person's journey. You will work alongside whānau to support the goals and aspirations of their rangatahi and strengthen their ability to support positive outcomes.
What you'll bring
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, youth development, employment support, case management, or a related field.
- A strengths-based approach and commitment to kaupapa Māori practice.
- The ability to work collaboratively with employers, community partners, and support services.
- Excellent organisational, administration, and time management skills.
- A current full New Zealand Driver Licence.
