Head of Project Management Office
FMG is looking for an experienced Leader to join our Strategy and Enablement team as Head of Project Management Office.
This role is based in either Palmerston North or Wellington and reports directly to the Chief Strategy and Enablement Officer (CSEO).
Role Purpose
The Head of Project Management Office is responsible for overseeing and leading the Project Management Office as well as the overarching project management function within the Mutual. The Head of Project Management will support the product delivery approach and ensure the successful execution of all programmes and projects within FMG. This role involves developing and implementing project management capabilities, standards and governance.
It also includes the effective management of risk across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall management and leadership responsibilities for the FMG Managers – Project Delivery
- Develop an FMG project management framework, methodology and associated standards, ensuring these are regularly reviewed and adapted as FMG’s strategic and business needs change. This also includes developing and maintaining a standardised method for the management of, and reporting on, project financials
- Assist the CSEO in delivering FMG’s annual business plan commitment
- Ensure projects are managed in accordance with published project management standards and frameworks, along with providing high-quality advice and consultancy services to strategic and Mutual leaders.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A proven track record of successfully managing and delivering projects in a large and complex organisation, including business and technology change
- Strong Leadership and mentorship experience
- Experience in managing project expenditures, and monitoring cost-control measures
- Excellent interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Excellent planning and communication skills – both written and verbal, with a great ability to collaborate with others, clearly articulate ideas/concepts and effectively present to others.
- An agile mindset – adaptable to change, collaboration and continuous delivery of business and customer value
