 Job Title: Grower/Supervisor Role


Location: Whanganui / Kaitoke
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

We’re seeking an experienced Grower/Supervisor to oversee daily crop management across our hydroponic strawberry tunnels and packhouse operation.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for managing crop performance from plant establishment through to harvest. You’ll coordinate irrigation, nutrition, and pest-management schedules, supervise seasonal staff in tunnels, and ensure high-quality fruit production that meets our targets for yield, quality, and consistency.

You’ll work closely with the Site Manager and wider management team to maintain a safe, efficient, and professional site that reflects the mana of our iwi and the standards of modern horticulture.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Proven experience in commercial strawberry or berry production (hydroponic preferred)
     
  • Strong practical knowledge of crop management, irrigation, and pest/disease control
     
  • Confident in leading teams through training and motivating others to meet quality and productivity targets
     
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
     
  • Commitment to health, safety, and food-quality standards
     

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Horticulture or Agriculture (or equivalent industry training) is preferred.
     
  • Supervisory experience within a horticultural or farm production environment
     
  • Growsafe and First Aid certification are advantageous

Skills & Experience

     

Practical   experience in horticulture, ideally berry or hydroponic systems

 

Proven   supervisory or team leadership experience

 

Strong   understanding of irrigation, nutrition, pest, and disease control

 

Organised   and proactive with attention to detail

 

Good   communication and interpersonal skills

 

Report   Writing: Monthly reports to the GM Commercial on the Operation
