The most important thing you should know about us is that we are decentralised. What does that really mean? It means that even though in NZ we have a revenue of $1.1B (putting us almost in the top 10 for NZ’s largest businesses), we don’t work like that. We avoid red tape and the stuff “corporates” do. Each of our 30 Branch GMs are fully supported to run their branch as their business and region and customers need.

Why Join Us?

  • Learn from experienced business leaders running their own branches
  • Gain experience across multiple regions, teams and functions
  • Build real, hands‑on operational capability
  • The food industry is essential to our economy and offers opportunities across NZ and beyond.

How It Works

In Year 1, you will:

  • Rotate through different roles (purchasing, warehousing, delivery, customer service, sales) and branches across NZ.
  • Develop core operational and business skills.
  • Complete a leadership programme.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of all business operations (distribution, logistics, fresh produce and manufacturing).

In Year 2, you’ll move into a permanent role within Bidfood somewhere in NZ.

We are most interested if you…

  • Can show you know how to commit and succeed (preferably through completing a degree or other qualification).
  • Are keen to learn and grow…we love training people.
  • Like being hands-on, and don’t mind getting your hands dirty… including working in a freezer and on night shift at times.
  • Want to build your confidence and ability to influence others.
  • Are keen to work at any of our branches across NZ including in smaller regional towns. You will not be based in Auckland.

Important – Read These “Must Haves” Before Applying

  1. You are eligible to work in NZ. We can’t sponsor people for this programme.
  2. You can attend the Assessment Centre is in the evening on 23rd July in Auckland (we’ll pay to get you there)
  3. The programme starts on 24 August 2026 (no flexibility because we need everyone to start together for orientation)
  4. You will move locations during the programme and potentially beyond. This includes smaller regional towns, not just main centres. We pay an accommodation allowance and help you find places to live.
  5. You can drive. There is not always public transport (or even Uber/DiDi) near our branches.

Tips for Applying

  • Answer the “tell us about” questions in lots of detail. We love AI but make sure your answers are your own specific examples as we want to hear about what you have done (we will check)!
  • Apply early as we will screen applicants as they come in.
