Are you an experienced Employment Relations professional with a strong understanding of 'all-things' employment relations including consultation processes and working in unionised environments. We are seeking a dedicated Employment Relations Specialist to join our team on a fixed-term basis to provide expert guidance and support during a period of organisational change. Role can be based Auckland, Bay of Plenty or Waikato.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on employment relations matters, including grievances, disputes, and disciplinary processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior managers, fostering a collaborative partnership.
  • Maintain constructive and positive working relationship with union delegates, staff members and advocates/lawyers.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies.
  • Support leaders and P&C teams in managing employment relations risks and resolving workplace issues.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of employment relations strategies and policies.

About You

You’re a seasoned professional with a proven track record in employment relations and a deep understanding of working within unionised environments. You’re confident navigating complex employment matters and have a proactive, solution-focused approach. You may be a confident up and comer who feels ready to take on a big role with lots of complexity. 

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in employment relations, including either exposure to collective bargaining or/and extensive union engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and relevant legislation.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and complex issues with discretion and integrity.
  • Experience in providing training and coaching to leaders on employment relations matters.
