Computer Lecturer
Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
We are seeking a full-time, fixed-term Computing Lecturer to join our School of Computing at our Tairāwhiti Campus from 1 January 2027 to 17 December 2027. In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate computing programmes, support student success through innovative and engaging learning experiences, contribute to research and scholarly activity, and build strong connections with industry and community stakeholders.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $79,416 and $86,667 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
The Computing Lecturer is based in our School of Computing reporting to the Assistant Head of School – Computing and will be responsible for:
- Delivering high-quality teaching across undergraduate computing programmes.
- Developing and updating course content, learning resources, and assessment materials.
- Using innovative blended, online, and face-to-face teaching methods.
- Fostering student engagement and self-directed learning.
- Providing academic guidance and support to students.
- Working collaboratively with student support services to enhance learner success.
- Assessing student performance and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Undertaking assessment moderation in accordance with academic quality standards.
- Maintaining accurate student records and administrative documentation.
- Building industry connections, supporting programme promotion, and contributing to research and scholarly activities.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry knowledge and experience in computing.
- Strong technical knowledge across a range of computing disciplines.
- Experience with Information Technology development and support.
- Knowledge of Database Design and Web Development.
- Experience or knowledge in Python programming.
- Understanding of Cybersecurity and Computer Systems Architecture.
- Experience teaching in face-to-face, blended, and/or online learning environments.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A commitment to student success, cultural responsiveness, continuous improvement, and an appreciation of Māori language and culture.
