Chief Executive Officer

Crest Hospital

Crest Hospital has a proud history of providing quality surgical care to the people of Manawatu, playing a substantive role in healthcare provision for the region across both privately and publicly funded patients. Outstanding patient care is provided through five operating theatres, a procedure room, a ten-bed recovery unit, 30 inpatient beds, a purpose-built day stay facility and contemporary equipment - positioning it as one of the region’s leading private healthcare providers. As a joint venture between local Specialists and Southern Cross Healthcare, patient experience, clinical excellence and specialist partnership are core to the hospital’s success. Crest Hospital is now poised for expansion and growth; and is looking for the right person to lead this next phase.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will lead the overall performance and direction of Crest Hospital and Specialist Centre, guiding both the day-to-day operation of the hospital and its long-term future. You will ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while achieving strong clinical, operational and financial outcomes, maintaining accreditation standards and fostering a culture where people feel proud to work and confident to receive care. Working in close partnership with the Board, shareholders, specialists and leadership team, you will build a high-trust, collaborative environment and position Crest Hospital as a provider of choice for patients and clinicians across the region.

This is a hands-on leadership role operating across strategy and operations. You will shape the hospital’s strategic direction, lead and support the Senior Leadership Team, and strengthen relationships with credentialed specialists and key stakeholders. You will oversee operational performance including theatre utilisation, patient flow and workforce capability, while ensuring strong clinical governance, quality improvement and regulatory compliance. At the same time, you will drive financial sustainability - managing budgets, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities to improve productivity and service delivery.

A key focus of the role is growth and development. You will lead major projects as we grow the business, working with clinicians and referrers to increase activity and expand capability. By introducing new procedures, technologies and models of care, supporting specialist recruitment and leading change effectively, you will help shape the next chapter of Crest Hospital and Specialist Centre - strengthening its reputation, expanding its services and ensuring the hospital continues to thrive into the future.

This is a full-time permanent role based in Palmerston North.
