Youth Worker – Residential Youth Services

MASH Trust is an innovative leader of support services across the disability, mental health and social sectors in the lower north Island. MASH trust is entering an exciting period of new service development. 

We are currently in the process of setting up supported living environments for rangatahi in the care of Oranga Tamariki and have opportunities for passionate and motivated Youth Workers to join this developing team. 

The Hours: 

This is a 24/7 service and involves shift work. There is a range of day, overnight and weekend shifts that are available on a casual basis with the occasional wake over shift. 

You MUST be available and willing to work weekends if you are applying for this role

Our commitment to people and whānau means that we have a flexible approach to these hours. 

Skills and experience: 

  • Experience working with rangitahi in a voluntary or paid capacity (preferable but not essential.)
  • Must be able to pass a VCA Police Check
  • Have a commitment to providing safe, quality support to rangatahi
  • Have the capability to build relationships within the community 
  • Effective co-ordination and administration skills.
  • Able to build rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Able to communicate and relate well with people at all levels.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with people at all levels.
  • Able to work in accordance with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi 
  • A current full driver's licence is required.
