Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

The Work Broker is a full- time permanent role that engages with Te Ara o Tākitimu ākonga and others to support their successful transition into employment or further training. This role matches students’ unique skills and strengths with employer needs, focusing on sustainable employment outcomes for students and their whānau. It involves labour market analysis, employer engagement, work readiness support, and facilitating work placements.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $54,210 and $67,763, dependent on skills and experience.
The Work Broker is based at Hawke’s Bay, reporting to the Student Support Services Manager, and will be responsible for:

  • Identifying labour market opportunities and maintaining employer relationships.
  • Supporting students with job search skills and work readiness.
  • Facilitating work experience and employment placements.
  • Building strong networks with employers, iwi, and community organisations.
  • Maintaining accurate data and reporting on student outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Knowledge of local labour market trends and employment services.
  • Experience working with young adults, particularly Māori and Pasifika students.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Digital literacy and organisational skills.
  • A relevant degree (desired).
