Wholesale Butcher
Join our team at Bidfresh Wanaka / Mediterranean Market as a Wholesale Butcher!
To ensure our customers receive the freshest cuts each day, this is a full time role (minimum 32 hours per week) requiring early starts (beginning at 5am, Tuesday to Saturday).
Key Responsibilities:
- Meat Processing: Prepare and process a variety of meats for wholesale distribution, including beef, lamb, pork, and poultry. Utilize cutting, boning, and trimming techniques to meet quality and quantity standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with our small team to ensure efficient production and timely delivery of orders. Communicate effectively to coordinate tasks and maintain workflow in a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Quality Assurance: Adhere to strict hygiene and safety protocols in compliance with the New Zealand Health and Safety Act 2015. Ensure all meat products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements for freshness, cleanliness, and food safety.
- Order Fulfillment: Assist in fulfilling wholesale orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring products are packaged, labeled, and stored correctly for distribution. Maintain organized inventory and rotation practices to minimize waste and optimize freshness.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain meat processing equipment, including knives, saws, grinders, and slicers. Perform regular cleaning, sanitization, and safety checks to ensure equipment functionality and longevity.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 3+ years meat processing and handling is required.
- Good knowledge of meat cutting and handling techniques.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy lifting and repetitive tasks.
- Basic understanding of the New Zealand Health and Safety Act 2015 and willingness to adhere to safety regulations.
