We are looking for a special individual who can walk alongside whānau to achieve their goals and aspirations.  help them with their immediate needs, put in place plans to achieve their future goals and support and guide them to independence and a sense of achievement.

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga is a whānau-focused, Iwi mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. We have been supporting our whānau me hapori to achieve their aspirations and general wellbeing for more than 38 years.  Underpinning our success as an organisation are our values Kotahitanga, Whakamana, Kaitiakitanga and Whānaungataunga, which are woven through everything we do.

Reporting to the Team Manager, you will join an awesome team doing transformational mahi with whānau in our community.   We are looking for individuals who can easily establish rapport with whānau from all walks of life, live and breathe our values and To Ao Māori worldview. 

You will encourage and support whānau to use their strengths and connections with whānau, their community and support networks to reach their goals and aspirations for themselves and their whānau.  This role is full time, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm for a fixed term of 6 months as parental leave cover from July to December 2024. 

You will be responsible for:

· Being a welcoming presence to awhi the whānau coming into our service and organisation

· Sourcing the solutions to their immediate needs

· Working with them to plan their pathways and connections they need to achieve their goals and aspirations. 

· Warm handovers of whānau to your colleagues in other TToH or community services

· Follow up with whānau to ensure their needs are met and goals are achieved 

· Empowering whānau to take the lead with their future aspirations

We are looking for candidates with:

· A Diploma in Whānau Ora or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification 

. At least 2 years of relevant experience in community based social services

· A can-do attitude, positive energy and enthusiasm

· Being open and responsive to a new way of helping whānau 

· Being a good role model, walking the talk, being goal and achievement focused

. Knowledge of Te Reo Māori me ona Tikanga Māori and Whānau Ora

· Wisdom, maturity and positive life experience

· Commitment to health and well-being

· Good listening skills and excellent communication with others

· Great rapport and relationship building skills with people from all walks of life

· Good personal and professional boundaries

· A Full, current Driver’s license

· COVID Vaccination
