Raukawa Charitable Trust is seeking dedicated and culturally grounded Whānau Ora Navigators (Kaiārahi) to join our team. These pivotal role supports whānau to achieve their aspirations through holistic, whānau-centred planning and access to essential services.

This role is based in Putaruru and supports whanau within the Raukawa takiwā.

Raukawa Charitable Trust (RCT) has been a provider of quality community initiatives throughout the South Waikato since 1987, and we are proud to deliver a wide range of iwi-led initiatives in health, social, treaty, cultural, and environmental sectors, to the communities that we serve.

About the Role

We’re excited to announce four new Whānau Ora Kaiārahi roles as part of a fresh chapter in Whānau Ora delivery. These positions mark our journey forward under Rangitāmiro — a newly established commissioning agency committed to empowering whānau through innovative, kaupapa Māori approaches. Together, we’re building stronger pathways for whānau to thrive.

As a Kaiārahi, you will:

  • Work alongside whānau to develop and implement plans that are whanau-centric and strength based that positively impact on family growth, development, and wellbeing. 
  • Ensure plans reflect the desires of the whānau so that they are self-directed and empowered to achieve outcomes, moving towards optimal independence, and greater      enjoyment of life.
  • Use your local networks and collaborate with our health and social services and other community providers to ensure integrated support and utilise services to fully benefit the whanau.
  • Use your coaching and mentoring experience and skills to support whānau to build resilience, economic security, and cultural confidence.

This role is part of a new hybrid service model, combining collective approaches to meet the diverse needs of whānau across our rohe. These roles will support whanau within our Kahu Taurima (Well Child Tamarki) or our Chronic Care team. 

Other skills and abilities required for this role includes the ability to support and assess the needs of whānau, the ability to write aspirational plans, and then carry out regular evaluations and reviews of those plans. 

We’re Looking For Someone Who Has:

  • Experience in social work, community engagement, or Whānau Ora service delivery.
  • A strong understanding of Te Ao Māori and commitment to kaupapa Māori values.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to create aspirational plans, evaluate progress and outcomes. 
  • Strong organisational and relationship-building skills.
  • A clean full NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and at least one year of post-graduate experience (desirable).

You will be working in a friendly and supportive team environment, but you must also be able to self-manage, show initiative, decisiveness and openness. Applicants must hold a valid and full Class 1 drivers licence and be prepared to undergo reference checks and Police vetting.
