Kia Ora Ake is a new locally co-designed tamariki hinengaro wellbeing approach for Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau and is part of the national Mana Ake programme. Mana Ake is a school based holistic wellbeing approach providing support to primary and intermediate school aged tamariki, their whaanau and schools. 

You will develop relationships with new and existing schools to deliver the Kia Ora Ake approach to support tamariki and whaanau wellbeing. Your collaborative approach will enable you to work effectively with schools, kura Maaori, workforce development agencies and Ministry of Education staff. You will be involved in delivering whole of school programmes, and group or classroom level programmes. You will have clinical experience in delivering individual work with tamariki and their whaanau to reach their hinengaro goals, as well as exceptional leadership skills in supporting a team.

You will be part of an exciting new team in Odyssey based in New Lynn, West Auckland. This team will work regionally in Counties Manukau alongside the wider Kia Ora Ake Provider’s network to support tamariki and whaanau. 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience, including clinical experience working with people who have experienced mental health and addiction issues. 
  • A relevant qualification (level 7) e.g. Bachelors in AOD, health sciences, social work 
  • Fully registered under the HPCA Act 2003, as a DAPAANZ practitioner, social worker, or full member of NZAC
  • Experience of facilitating groups and training others
  • Experience of working in the social services, addictions and/or mental health sectors  
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its practical application in health settings 
  • Knowledge of Maaori Tikanga and of Pacific cultures and customs 
  • Full Current New Zealand Driver’s license

  • A salary between $65,915 and $73,590 depending on registration and experience
