Due to internal movement, we have a twelve-months fixed term role within one of our Integrated Practice Teams for an experienced and qualified peer support worker (Wellbeing Facilitator - Lived Experience Practitioner).  You will use your excellent relationship skills, resilience and flexibility to provide community-based peer support to people across West Auckland.  Using your own personal lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction challenges and recovery, you will support people to achieve positive goals in their lives.  If you want to make a difference in people’s lives using the Strengths model and the Recovery approach and work for a well-established and respected award-winning provider of mental health services based in West Auckland, please contact us.

Skills & Experience

We would welcome applications from people who have: 

  • Their own lived experience of utilising mental health and/or addiction services
  • A NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (Mental health and Addictions) or Certificate in Peer Support (Mental Health, Level 4) or equivalent qualification
  • A proven ability to work effectively with peers from various cultures, especially Maori and Pasifika
  • A positive and professional attitude 
  •  Ability to role model how to move forward in a journey to wellbeing
  • Good computer and record keeping skills  
  • Familiarity with the West Auckland community  
  • Excellent communication, relationship and advocacy skills  
  • Creativity, enthusiasm and persistence  
  • A mature, empathetic personality and a sense of humour  
  • A full, clean NZ driver's licence

This is a fixed term (12 months) full time role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5pm.
