Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and infrastructure that serves your local community? We are looking for a Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our Community Infrastructure Group – a team committed to delivering high-quality services across Local Water, Roading, and Solid Waste Infrastructure, with a sharp focus on maintaining and upgrading our capital programme.

As a key part of our Water Services team, you will:
· Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plants, including associated reticulation systems.
· Support the delivery of safe and compliant water services for residents and businesses.
· Carry out tasks as directed by the Water Treatment Supervisor or Wastewater Treatment Supervisor, including routine inspections, system monitoring, and maintenance.
· Input data and update operational records using mobile field devices and systems.
As a valued member of the Local Waters, Community Infrastructure Group, you will also participate in standby rosters and emergency callouts and contribute to incident responses.
He kōrero mōu - About you
We’re seeking someone who brings both technical knowledge and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
You’ll ideally have:
· A valid NZ driver’s license (Class 1 required; Class 2 a strong advantage).
· Solid computer and digital skills, particularly using mobile field data devices for logging operational data.
· A qualification and/or experience in operating Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Plants and reticulation systems.
· Experience or familiarity with local government, public sector, or equivalent industry environments.
