He angitūtanga - The opportunity
We’re looking for a passionate Waste Minimisation Officer to join our team and play a key role in driving sustainability efforts across the Horowhenua District. In this role, you’ll develop and implement waste minimisation programs, support the creation and reivew of local waste management policies and bylaws, and ensure alignment with the Waste Minimisation Act 2008 and the National Waste Strategy. You’ll also monitor and report on waste trends, while engaging with and supporting the coordination of community to education and promotion of sustainable waste practices. If you’re proactive, solutions-focused, and have a passion for reducing waste and improving environmental outcomes, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact on our district’s sustainability goals.
He kōrero mōu - About you
You are a proactive, solutions-focused individual with a passion for sustainability. Ideally, you have a background in environmental science, waste management, or a related field, and experience working in or with local government. Your ability to engage and educate the community, alongside your knowledge of waste minimisation strategies, will enable you to make a real impact. With excellent communication and project management skills, you’ll be comfortable working with diverse stakeholders to drive change and achieve local waste minimisation targets.
