The Role

Looking to return to the workforce or ease back into a professional role? This part-time job share opportunity offers a great way to contribute your organisational and communication skills while working in a supportive, high-performing team.

This is a 12-month fixed-term, part time position based in our Palmerston North office and provides continued full-time coverage and support for our vehicle fleet operations and the internal service delivery of Horizons Regional Council. The role is shared with an existing team member, with responsibilities split across the position to ensure consistent and seamless service, working as a team together covering the week. This job share is for 20 hours per week, over three days, Wednesday - Friday.

You’ll play a key role in supporting the “engine room” of our council assets and facilities, helping ensure fleet and related functions run smoothly across the organisation. You will get a very real sense of satisfaction in completing valuable fleet management tasks directly supporting staff within our active organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate fleet operations and related asset management activities
  • Support team communication, scheduling, and reporting
  • Work collaboratively with your job share partner and wider team
  • Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency
  • Support fleet budget planning
  • Support fleet repairs and maintenance planning
  • Support fleet purchase and disposal

About you

  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and see tasks through to completion
  • Team player, adaptable, and reliable able to seamlessly integrate with job-partner
  • Previous experience in fleet, facilities, basic budgeting, or operations coordination is an advantage
  • Driven to succeed and motivated by delivering a service to our customers
