U-Skills Central Schools Trades Academy delivers Secondary Tertiary programmes across Wairarapa, Manawatu, Whanganui and Horowhenua. The U-Skills programmes allow senior secondary school students the opportunity to gain industry based unit standards while attending UCOL one or two days a week. We are seeking applicants for a permanent Transition Coordinator on our Whanganui campus. This role is a permanent part time (16 hours a week) role.
This role will have you:
• Supporting student achievement
• Establishing student engagement on their programme
• Monitoring transition pathways
• Participation in continuing self-education
• Maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and learning environment
To be successful in this role you will have extensive experience working with 15 - 18 year olds as you will be responsible for the pastoral care and general support of U-Skills students. Your strong people and relationship building skills will see you not only creating a sense of whanau within the U-Skills programme but will have you building strong relationships with schools, parents and industry. You will ideally hold a qualification in tertiary teaching and/or the National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (Vocational) Level 5 (or be working toward this); or relevant work experience in a people helping role. Ability to develop and maintain meaningful professional relationships.
Computer skills including proficient use of Outlook, Word, Excel and other applications.
Have proven excellent organisational skills and caring nature.
Highly developed interpersonal, written, and oral presentation skills.
Previous experience working with 15 – 18 year olds particularly in the delivery of pastoral or personal support services, including mentoring, coaching and career advice.
Aware of a wide range of cultural issues that impact learning success.
