You must already hold the right to work in Aotearoa New Zealand. We are currently not providing visa support. We offer support to achieve NZQA equivalent qualifications in Health and Wellbeing!

Are you a connector, innovator, and love to inspire people? We are looking for you, as a Transitions and Day Activities Coordinator, in this role you will liaise with the wider Rangatahi team to develop and implement Day activities programme, work with our school team to support transition plans for our Rangatahi leaving school and moving into work, part of this will be networking with local community groups and organisations.

You will develop and refine our Rangatahi day services program, and work in partnership with our House Managers to assess our people needs and plan, implement and support this programme.

Job Description and daily weekly and rhythmic tasks:

  • Encourage engagement and participation.
  • Understanding and flexibility around complex needs.
  • Ability to think on your feet and change plans at short notice.
  • Think outside the square, be willing to try new experiences and use dynamic risk assessment to ensure safety.
  • Be a People person willing to explore external options and support our people to have external experiences.
  • Establish community connections both internal and external to aid with transitions from school to adulthood, also from Poraiti day services to outside or Clive opportunities.
  • Support the team when crisis happens, be calm and collected in stressful moments.
  • No day in this role is the same being able to manage and plan a program for the day, for the PWS and engage staff in activities, whilst creating and exploring new opportunities and dealing with days where the PWS can be challenging.

What a day can look like:

  • Arrive and check in with houses to see how PWS are today.
  • Confirm plans with others involved to ensure safety etc.
  • Check vans and logistics.
  • Come together for morning circle, give day routine and plan.
  • Support team to participate in activities, woodwork,  crafts, newspaper runs, vege deliveries, estate work, beach cleans,      swimming, etc.
  • Closing circle.
  • Explore and network external and internal opportunities build relationships,
  • Meetings , IDP’s paperwork, preparing for next day etc.
