Southern Cross Central Lakes Hospital (SCCLH) received its first patients in January 2022 and has steadily developed a broad range of specialty surgery covering both private and public patients. The joint venture ownership between Southern Cross Healthcare and Central Lakes Trust ensures leading clinical service delivery whilst maintaining a genuine focus to provide healthcare services closer to home for general population of Central Otago.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Coordinator to join our team, supporting the effective delivery of elective and acute surgical services within a busy operating theatre environment.

In this role, you will work closely with the Theatre Services Manager to coordinate theatre schedules, manage surgical bookings, and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of theatre operations. You will play a key part in balancing clinical priorities, resource allocation, and patient flow, while maintaining a strong focus on service excellence and patient outcomes.  

You’ll provide leadership and guidance to theatre teams, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing culture. This position also has a strong operational focus, including rostering, instrumentation planning, and liaising with internal stakeholders and visiting specialists to ensure efficient and seamless service delivery. 

This is a full-time permanent position based in our Southern Cross Central Lakes Hospital.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Registered Nurse (or relevant health professional) with a current practising certificate 
  • Minimum 5+ years’ operating theatre experience 
  • Proven ability to coordinate theatre lists, surgical bookings, and workflow in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities 
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience guiding teams and supporting service delivery
  • Strong background in orthopaedics is highly desirable
  • Previous coordination or leadership experience within a theatre setting is highly desirable
