Tenancy Officer
As a Tenancy Officer in our expanding Housing service, you will oversee a range of tenancies types that include Transitional Housing, temporary tenancies owned or leased by Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga and other long-term tenancies.

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga [TToH] is a Ngāti Kahungunu–mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. For over 40 years, we have delivered holistic, whānau‑centred services across Heretaunga and the East Coast.

The Role
You will carry out the full range of Tenancy management responsibilities from property inspections, managing lease documentation, monitoring tenant financial payments, managing tenant turnover and organising maintenance and repair work when required and making sure the properties are up to standard.  

You will also have an overall focus on sustainable tenancy and ensuring tenant wellbeing.  You will work in collaboration with our Housing Navigators and other teams across our organisation to provide wrap around support with the goal to provide long-term, sustainable housing for whānau. 

We are looking for supportive and empathic kaimahi that have excellent community networks, an understanding of whanaungatanga, and the ability to connect and communicate effectively with whānau from all walks of life. This role is a permanent, full-time position, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm. 

What we are Looking For:

  • Experience in managing a  portfolio of tenancies in the community or private sector
  • Familiarity with Housing NZ and Ministry of Social Development processes
  • Great people skills and ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure and manage difficult whānau interactions
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills
  • An understanding of Te Reo and tikanga practices (or open to learning)
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines 
  • A current Full Driver licence
