Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role
This newly created role will be part of the Occupational Therapy Team, and provide
outstanding service and support to our ākonga (learners) and kaimahi (staff) in the new Work Augmented Learning delivery of the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy programme. You will be based on-site at a Regional Learning Hub in either Bannockburn, Central Otago Campus or at one of Te Ta Tokerau Campuses* where the learners come onsite on Tuesdays.
Your primary responsibilities will be assisting ākonga in their learning journey by:
· Supporting ākonga engagement, retention and wellbeing
· Facilitating learning activities planned in collaboration with kaimahi
· Maintaining tikanga and ensuring cultural processes are followed as appropriate
· Timekeeping so that full use of the day is enabled
· Managing technologies in the classroom with kaimahi streaming in
· Assisting with orientation and transition into blended learning
· Providing pastoral care and connecting learners with support services
You will assist with administration, attendance tracking and resource development and collaborate with kaimahi to enhance regional programme delivery.
The role involves liaison with other departments at Otago Polytechnic and external stakeholders to ensure increased participation, retention and independence for our ākonga in a supportive learning environment.
While this role is part-time we have up to four positions available to support the programme. Based on current enrolments, we have positions available in Bannockburn and Whangarei and positions in Ngawha and Kaitaia are to be confirmed in the near future. Our preferred candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for supporting learner success. You are comfortable working in a collaborative environment and building meaningful relationships with a diverse range of people.
You will have good organisational skills, an ability to adapt to change and thrive on using your own initiative and confident in computer literacy including Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Teams.
