Teacher-in-Training BestStart Montessori Rongotai
BestStart Montessori Rongotai is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Teacher-in-Training to join our warm, close-knit team.
Our Montessori environment respects each child as a capable learner, supporting tamariki aged 2–6 to develop independence, confidence, and a love of learning. You’ll work alongside our teaching team to provide nurturing, high-quality care and learning experiences while building your own teaching practice.
About the Role
This is a permanent, full-time position of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, within our centre hours of 8:00 am–5:30 pm.
You will:
- Build positive relationships with children and whānau
- Support learning through play, routines, and everyday interactions
- Assist with planning and extending children’s learning
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment
- Champion our Montessori philosophy and children’s independence

What We’re Looking For
You’ll be enrolled in, or committed to enrolling in, a Level 7 ECE Bachelor’s degree or Graduate Diploma and bring:
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s independence and wellbeing
- A warm, positive, and reliable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- An understanding of child-led learning and Te Whāriki
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice
- A willingness to learn and embrace Montessori philosophy
