BestStart Welcome Bay is looking for a passionate and dedicated Teacher in Training to join our energetic, close-knit team. We are proud to provide high-quality education and care for the children in our community, creating a nurturing environment where tamariki can thrive.

Conveniently located on the main road in Welcome Bay, next to Johnsons Reserve, our centre offers unique opportunities for outdoor learning. Our regular Bush Kindy sessions at the nearby reserve allow children to explore nature, build confidence, and develop a strong connection with the world around them.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher in Training who is either in their first or second year of study towards an Early Childhood Education qualification, or looking to build a career in the sector.

Working alongside our experienced teaching team, you will support the delivery of quality care and education while growing your skills, knowledge, and professional practice in a supportive environment.

  • Permanent position – 25 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
  • A variety of shifts, so flexibility is essential
  • Opportunities for additional hours to cover leave and training days

We’re looking for someone who is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners and who demonstrates:

  • Enrolment in a Level 7 ECE Bachelor qualification
  • Understanding of child-led curriculum and learning through play
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
