About the Role

As a Teacher in Training, you'll work closely with our qualified teaching team to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children. You'll gain valuable practical experience while completing your approved Early Childhood Education qualification, developing the skills and confidence needed to become a successful registered teacher.

This is a permanent position working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

In This Role, You'll:

  • Support children's learning and development through engaging, child-led experiences.
  • Build positive relationships with children, whānau, colleagues, and the wider community.
  • Contribute to learning stories, observations, and planning alongside qualified teachers.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all tamariki.
  • Embrace culturally responsive practices.
  • Actively participate in your studies, mentoring, and professional growth opportunities.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about learning, passionate about early childhood education, and ready to make a positive difference in the lives of young learners. You'll ideally have:

  • Enrolment in, or plans to enroll in, a Level 7 ECE Bachelor qualification
  • A strong interest in child-led learning and extending children's ideas and interests
  • An understanding of Te Whāriki and current ECE regulations
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A positive, caring, and professional attitude
  • Reliability, initiative, and a willingness to learn
