Join Our BestStart Tawa South Whānau as a Teacher in Training

BestStart Tawa South is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher in Training to join our energetic, close-knit team working with our under 2s. We are committed to providing high‑quality education and care for the children in our community.

Our Vision and Philosophy

Vision: The beauty of this place lies in the culture of the people. Philosophy: Ko te maunga teitei, ko te iwi teitei – The mountain stands tall, just as the people stand tall.

We strive to ensure tamariki stand tall, feel confident in who they are, and celebrate their identity. Our centre is located in a family-friendly suburb, closely connected to Redwood School and our wider community. Our culturally diverse team creates a warm, welcoming, home-like environment. We honour and celebrate our tamariki and whānau through events such as Matariki, Diwali, and Heritage Day, nurturing a sense of belonging, compassion, and pride.

About the Role

If you are passionate about teaching young children and are currently enrolled in a Level 7 ECE Bachelor or Graduate Diploma, we would love to hear from you. This is a permanent, full-time role working Monday to Friday, 8.30am–5pm.

You will be based in our Pikopiko Room, a nurturing space designed for children under 2 years old. Our Kaiako use music from a wide range of cultures, Māori, Samoan, Indian, Sri Lankan, Filipino, Chinese, and more, to support settling, connection, and identity. The room features an open-plan layout with excellent indoor-outdoor flow, a covered patio, and a dedicated outdoor area for our youngest learners. Tamariki enjoy sensory experiences such as bubbles, gloop, sandpit painting, and activities that support their gross motor development.
