We have lots of fun days and are very messy! 

About the Role:  

If you have a passion for teaching young children and are currently enrolled to study in your first year in a level 7 ECE programme (ECE Bachelor), we want to hear from you. This is a permanent position working 30-35 hours per week Monday-Friday.   

You will be working in our Nursery or Preschool space, depending on where your passion lies!  The nursery room for our under 2 year old tamariki, embodies Rangimarie, a sense of peacefulness that helps create a calm and soothing environment for the tamariki. This tranquil atmosphere ensures that each child feels secure and at ease, laying a foundation for positive growth and development. 

In the preschool room for our two-year-olds, Whakakakau emphasises the importance of communication. We create an environment where tamariki feel comfortable expressing themselves verbally and non-verbally.  Relationships, is central to our approach. We prioritise building strong connections among children, as well as between children and Kaiako.

Role requirements:  

Commit to making a difference in the lives of young learners with a team dedicated to excellence. We are looking for the following:  

  • Enrolment into a level 7 ECE Bachelor course and in your first year
  • Good understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending on our children's learning  
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard  
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices  
  • Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality
