BestStart Cranford is a beautiful purpose-built preschool situated right in the heart of St Albans. We have an amazing diverse cultured centre, that strives to provide Whanaungatang to all our families. This will be an amazing opportunity to be involved in the continuing growth of this unique preschool philosophy, as well as work with a skilled and experienced Center Manager to grow yourself and your skills.

About the Role:  

If you have a passion for teaching young children and are currently enrolled to study in a level 7 ECE programme (ECE Bachelor or Graduate Diploma), we want to hear from you. This is a permanent position working 35 hours per week Monday-Friday.   

On a day-to day basis, you will be actively involved in:

  • Providing amazing care and education to our tamariki 
  • Championing the team spirit and engage in activities that empower and extend tamariki learning 
  • Fully participating in centre activities across all classrooms and cover staff breaks where necessary 
  • Supporting centre operations at all levels  
  • Support the team with breaks and lunches, flexibility to work with different ages and stage in every classroom and different teams

Role requirements:  

Commit to making a difference in the lives of young learners with a team dedicated to excellence. We are looking for the following:  

  • Enrolment into a level 7 ECE Bachelor or Graduate Diploma course  
  • Good understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending on our children's learning  
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard  
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices  
  • Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality
  • A team player with excellent communication skills. 
  • Able to take direction from others and have a high level of initiative
  • Be a fast and efficient learner who is highly organised and meticulous
