Mo te tunga I About the Role: 

BestStart Beckenham is seeking a passionate and dedicated 2nd Year Teacher in Training with a sound knowledge and understanding of infants and babies. (While based in the Under2s Nursery, from time to time, there will be an opportunity to provide support in the Preschool Room). Our nursery provides a warm and loving environment based on nurturing moments and engaging activities.  Our teachers have the expertise and knowledge to provide appropriate experiences that enhance and stimulate social and emotional growth, ensuring the needs of our babies/infants and toddlers are always met. 

Our successful applicant will be:

  • a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • a keen learner, open to constructive feedback
  • passionate and have a drive for planning and implementing the 16 Areas of Play throughout the day 
  • comfortable incorporating the fundamentals of Te Whariki
  • proactive and a problem solver - able to use their initiate when appropriate

Role requirements: 

  • Enrolment into a level 7 ECE Bachelor or Graduate Diploma course 
  • Good understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending on our children's learning 
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard 
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices 
  • Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality 

This is a permanent part-time position working 30-35 hours per week, between 7am – 6pm, Monday-Friday.
