The Raukawa Charitable Trust (RCT) has been a provider of quality community initiatives throughout the South Waikato since 1987. We are proud to deliver a wide range of iwi-lead initiatives in health, social, treaty, cultural, and environmental sectors, to the communities that we serve.

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Registered Nurse with a passion to work with families/whānau/caregivers and their tamariki from birth to the ages of 5 years old in our Well Child Tamariki Ora Nurse role. This role delivers the Well Child Tamariki Ora programme within the South Waikato.

To be successful in this role you will need to be committed to working with families in the South Waikato and surrounding district, with the aim of providing support, assistance and advocacy to ensure optimum health and wellbeing for the youngest members of our community.

This role is based in Tokoroa, a town where the commute to work is brief, and housing is affordable. It is conveniently situated a short drive from beaches on both the East and West Coasts, and is not far from the mountains, rivers and lakes. This role also offers a Monday to Friday work week (no shift work), and a Christmas close-down period. The location and work hours are a great way to maintain a work/life balance, and make the most of your time off.

Applicants should:

  • Be a registered nurse with a current annual practicing certificate
  • Have previous experience in working in the community with whānau
  • Have a minimum of 3 years nursing experience
  • Have completed, or be willing to undertake Well Child Tamariki Ora specific training 
  • Possess skills and experience related to the wellbeing and healthy development of Tamariki
  • Be able to record case notes/observations in an accurate and timely way
  • Be able to work in a culturally appropriate, safe and responsive manner
  • Ideally have a basic understanding of Te Reo Māori; and experience working with Iwi/Māori organisations.

You must be able to work as part of a team with our Kaiāwhina, but also be able to manage your workload, and take the initiative when needed. Applicants must hold a valid and full Class 1 drivers licence and be prepared to undergo reference checks and Police vetting.
