About the Service - MANA AKE – Stronger for Tomorrow

Due to the success of the Mana Ake programme, we are looking for another Kai Ararau/Educator to join our Mana Ake team.

Working with over 56 primary and intermediate schools across Hastings and Central Hawkes Bay, our programmes give tamariki access to knowledge, skills and strategies to cope with change, manage their emotions and build positive relationships.  Our focus is on early intervention ensuring tamariki remain engaged, confident and achieving at school.

About the Role:

Working alongside the rest of the Mana Ake team, this role will be working in the schools, delivering innovative and effective programmes giving tamariki the tools and resources they need to thrive wherever they live, learn and play. 

This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm (40 hours), based at our Hastings office.

What we are looking for:

  • Commitment to our organisational values and kaupapa
  • An understanding of Te Reo and tikanga Māori 
  • A warm, engaging personality that tamariki relate too 
  • Experience presenting information and providing support to tamariki 
  • Have empathy and understanding of trauma and its impact on behaviour
  • Knowledge of our Hawkes Bay community and local schools in Hastings and/or CHB
  • A Certificate in Health and/or Social Services is desirable or similar related experience
  • A current New Zealand Full Driver’s Licence.
