Help shape wellbeing and learning in Waikato schools — join the Tūturu team!

Tūturu is a uniquely Aotearoa approach that aims to strengthen relationships between schools and health services, so that students can learn, be well, and be prepared for a modern world. Tūturu uses the expertise of the education and health sectors to explore complex issues. It starts with a focus on alcohol and other drugs to help schools move from a punitive to pastoral approach.

About the role

We’re looking for someone to work 20 hours per week (over 3 days) who’s passionate about youth wellbeing and education to support schools across the Waikato region. In this role, you will:

  • Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with new and existing schools.
  • Work collaboratively with school leaders, staff, and communities to identify their unique needs and develop a whole-school approach to wellbeing.
  • Facilitate discussions, deliver engaging workshops, and provide training and presentations to school staff and community groups.
  • Champion early intervention by helping schools recognise issues sooner and connect with the right supports.
  • Be a key driver in health promotion — fostering collaboration between schools, youth services, health providers, and whānau.

You will also be part of a lively team of regional and national Tūturu leads and work closely alongside our amazing Youth INtact Team.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • At least two years’ relevant work experience gained in a public health, community development, educational and/or other relevant health setting
  • Understanding of and interest in Tūturu/whole school approach
  • Experience or knowledge of education, youth mental health and/or addiction sector
  • Able to establish and maintain effective relationships and networks with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Previous experience facilitating presentations and workshops.
  • The ability to work both autonomously and within a team
  • The ability to build and maintain networks
  • A full, clean driver’s licence

In return we offer:

  • A salary between $80,849 - $89,128 per annum pro rata depending on skills and experience
  • 5 days paid study leave per annum
  • A pool car to use for travel to and from home
  • Hours to be worked between Monday & Friday – no afterhours!
  • Professional and career development opportunities
  • A dynamic and supportive team who are passionate about what they do
