Healthcare Support Worker

We are looking for a qualified mental health support worker to help people achieve positive goals in their lives. You will use your excellent relationship skills, resilience and flexibility to provide community-based support to people across West Auckland. Within this role you will also provide specialist support for people experiencing housing needs and who are at risk of tenancy loss, by connecting them to the right support and finding solutions to sustain their tenancies. Ultimately, the goal is to prevent whanau from falling into homelessness.
This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5pm. The hourly rate is between $27.80-$30.84 per hour depending on qualifications as per the Pay Equity Settlement for Mental Health Support Workers.
Support could include but not limited to:
- Completing assessments and necessary correspondence.
- Engaging with budgeting services, Work and Income NZ, social housing providers and private landlords/property managers.
- Providing mental health and addiction support.
- Providing support to tangata whaiora using our WALSH Trust values of whakamana (integrity), manaakitanga (respect), aroha (kindness), atawhaitanga (courtesy) and kotahitanga (we, us - - together).

We would welcome applications from people who have:
- The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working within the mental health field and an understanding and appreciation of Strengths and Recovery-Based practice.
- A proven ability to work effectively with people from various cultures, especially Maori and Pasifika.
- Excellent communication, relationship and advocacy skills.
- The ability to work innovatively and proactively to achieve service goals.
- A positive, responsible, and professional attitude.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- A current, full, clean NZ driver’s license.
- Good computer and record keeping skills.
