About the Role
Veltoma house is based at the Hohepa Farm in Halswell and is looking for a new team member to join them. Veltoma house is a dynamic household with three young men and one young woman between 25 - 34. The three young men have autism and like structure, routine and being involved in house activities. They each have very unique personalities but enjoy being around their staff and flat mates. The woman of the house has Autism and is profoundly deaf, she is good at communicating what she needs, a knowledge of sign language would be desirable. Our people at Veltoma enjoy going on holidays together, attending festivals, building skills and independence at home.
You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this person focussing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space. Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.15 and $28.25 per hour.
Rostered hours:
Week One
- Saturday 11am to 9:30pm + Sleepover
- Sunday 7am to 5pm
Week Two
- Friday 4pm to 9:30pm + Sleepover
- Sunday 7am to 5pm
Total Hours per fortnight: 55
About You
Your aroha and approach is what really matters at Hōhepa – previous experience is not a prerequisite because we provide on-the-job training.
