Mō te tūranga | About the Role  

In this role you will be supporting Paul and Josiah, who are in their late 40's and live at Rata House in the Somerfield area. Paul finds joy in attending Day base (LEAP) which is located at the Hōhepa main campus, Paul also enjoys swimming, dancing and watching sports (especially Cricket!).  Josiah who is deaf finds enjoyment by following his routine and sensory activities. As they both thrive on routine and sensory experiences, Paul and Josiah benefit greatly from the support and guidance of dedicated individuals who understand their needs and preferences as well keeping them engaged and informed about upcoming community events. 

You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside Paul and Josiah focusing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space.  Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people’s ability to access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge this could be the opportunity for you.  

This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.15 and $28.25 per hour.  

Nga haora kua tohua | Rostered hours:  

Position 1: 

Week 1: 

  •  Sunday and Monday 4pm to 11pm
  •  Saturday 8am to 4pm

Week 2: 

  • Sunday and Monday 4pm to 11pm

Total Hours per fortnight: 36

Position 2: 

Week 1: 

  • Sunday 8am to 4pm

Week 2:

  • Sunday & Saturday 8am to 4pm

Total Hours per fortnight: 24
