About the role

We have a permanent part-time opportunity within our Disability Residential team in Palmerston North, providing one-to-one support to a person in their home and community. The role includes supporting them to get out and about in the community and assisting with light household chores.

The person enjoys going to the movies, listening to music and fishing, so this role would suit someone who shares these interests. Experience with fishing would be ideal, but a willingness to learn is just as welcome.

Hours of work

This role is 50 hours per fortnight, working Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00am to 3.00pm. There may also be opportunities for the right candidate to pick up additional casual shifts.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A patient, reassuring and person-centred approach, with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for helping others achieve their goals.
  • A full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Previous experience supporting people with mental health needs would be beneficial.
  • A New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, or a willingness to work towards this qualification with support from MASH Trust.
