Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Pīwakawaka House, located in Halswell, is seeking a new team member to join their dynamic household that is home to four gentlemen, each diagnosed with autism. These individuals thrive on structure, routine, and active participation in household activities. Despite their unique personalities, they greatly value the presence of their caregivers and flatmates. Notably, one of the residents is visually impaired and requires additional assistance. The residents of Pīwakawaka House enjoy engaging in various activities together, including attending festivals and honing their skills to foster independence within their home environment.
You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this person focussing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space. Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people’s ability to access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge this could be the opportunity for you.
This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.15 and $28.25 per hour.

Week 1:
- Thursday & Friday 8am to 4pm
- Saturday 8am to 6pm
Week 2:
- Wednesday to Friday 8am to 4pm
- Saturday 8am to 6pm
Total Hours per fortnight: 60
