Support Worker
Are you a confident, empathetic, and adaptable support worker looking to make a real difference in a young person’s life?
We are seeking a support worker to join our dedicated team, supporting clients impacted by brain injury or long-term conditions. This role focuses on building life skills, independence, and community engagement in a respectful and empowering way.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping others and is ready to be a positive role model in a young person’s journey toward independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support clients in accessing community services and activities.
- Be a consistent, positive presence and role model.
- Help create a warm, respectful, and motivating environment.
- Respond constructively to behavioural challenges and support positive strategies.
- Engage with community providers (e.g. WINZ, HNZ, CADS, Mental Health).
- Work independently in the client’s home and community.
What We’re Looking For:
- Level 3 or 4 Health & Wellbeing qualification (minimum Level 3 required).
- Experience with brain injury, physical disability, mental health, or addiction.
- Understanding of communication challenges is a plus.
- Full, clean driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
- Clean criminal record and willingness to undergo police checks.
- Strong cultural competency, including understanding of Māori perspectives and tikanga Māori.
- A caring, patient, and client-centred approach.
