For over 25 years SILC has been supporting individuals to live a life of their choosing - a life full of opportunities, friendships and experiences. SILC walks alongside the people we support to facilitate a sense of belonging and independence.

About the Role:

The people we support require various types of support but ultimately your focus will be on assisting them to gain greater independence and be part of their community.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Working alongside each person, helping them to achieve their goals by focussing on their aspirations and strengths.

· Helping people you support connect with their community (for example: shopping, clubs or leisure and work activities).

· Promoting independence in the home by supporting with meal preparation, household management and personal cares.

· Assisting with their mobility (for example: moving from place to place and/or basic movement and stretching).

For this Role, you will need to:

· Ideally have a Level 3 Certificate in Health & Wellbeing but this is not essential, as you will be supported to gain this qualification while you work.

· Be a good communicator, patient and calm –someone who is genuinely interested in people and can build meaningful relationships.

· Honest and reliable with complete integrity.

· Have sound written and verbal communication skills.

· Be computer literate.

· Be able to work across a 7 day week on a 24/7 roster (including weekends, evenings and sleepovers).

In return, we offer:

· A varied environment where no two days are the same.

· The opportunity to gain your Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in Health & Wellbeing plus further opportunities to progress your career

· Pay rates (defined by the Pay Equity) from $20.50 to $25.50 (dependent on your qualifications)
