Support Services Manager – 12-month fixed term role

Southern Cross Brightside Hospital

Southern Cross Brightside Hospital in Epsom, Auckland has 33 in-patient beds and 6 day-stay chairs. Surgical specialities include Orthopaedics, Urology, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Robotics. Our hospital features an intermediate care facility, a specialised post-operative ward for patients with medical conditions or surgical issues that require an enhanced level of monitoring and care. The beds are equipped to support invasive monitoring, medical infusions, and a 24-hour monitoring service, with specialised nurses with the knowledge and skills to deliver a more sophisticated level of care as required. 

Credentialled practitioners and their patients have access to four advanced operating theatres, with special features such as a visual/digital theatre, robotics, laminar flow and state-of-the-art theatre equipment. Each of these theatres is supported by the latest sterilisation and anaesthetic technologies and systems.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As our Support Services Manager, you'll be at the heart of Brightside Hospital's success, leading the teams and services that ensure the hospital runs seamlessly every day. Overseeing functions including administration, reception, bookings, finance, accounts, medical records, and outsourced services, you'll drive operational excellence while delivering an exceptional experience for patients, specialists, and visitors alike. With a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement, you'll create an environment where people feel supported, valued, and confident in the care and service they receive from the moment they walk through our doors.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you'll work alongside the General Manager to shape the future of the hospital and contribute to its ongoing success. From strategic planning, budgeting, and commercial performance to leading high-performing teams and driving innovative ways of working, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the organisation. This is a role for an inspiring leader who thrives on building strong relationships, leading through change, and creating a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement that keeps Brightside at the forefront of private healthcare. This is a full-time 12-month fixed term position based in Southern Cross Brightside Hospital.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Proven success in leading and optimising administration functions, with 5–7 years' experience managing complex operational environments and delivering exceptional service outcomes.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, monitor performance, control costs, and make commercially sound decisions that support organisational success.
  • An engaging and people-focused leadership style, with demonstrated experience building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
  • A tertiary qualification in management, business, or a related discipline, bringing a solid foundation of professional knowledge and leadership capability.
  • Previous experience within healthcare administration, with an understanding of the unique demands of delivering outstanding service in a patient-centred environment.
  • Confidence using electronic patient management and reporting systems, leveraging data and technology to improve efficiency, inform decision-making, and enhance service delivery.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the initiative to identify opportunities, challenge the status quo, and implement smarter ways of working.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with clinicians, specialists, leaders, and support teams across the hospital.
