We are looking for someone to join our amazing National Contact Service Team! 

Key Details

 Location: Police National Headquarters, Wellington.

Salary:  $51,200 per annum for 32 hours (pro rata from the full-time remuneration of $64,000).

Hours: 32 hours per week, Friday - Monday between the hours of 7am - 5:30pm (specific roster to be discussed).  

Eligibility:  Applicants for this position must have the legal right to work in NZ and consent to undergo a NZ Police Vetting Process. 


About the role | Mō te tūnga  

Manaaki Tāngata | Victim Support, National Contact Service (NCS) provides a nationwide 24-hour response service to victims of crime and traumatic events. This role is for a permanent Support Navigator to join our NCS team, working 32 hours per week in our Wellington National Office.

This role is based in Wellington, and the core responsibilities include: 

  • Answering calls from Police, Victims, Victims of Crime Information Line, employees, and other appropriate lines as advised.  
  • Providing initial screening, intake, triage, assessment, and Support Worker allocation to victims of crime and traumatic events, ensuring that cases are directed to the appropriate area based on needs, requirements, and priorities.
  • Providing support to victims of incidents classified as low level  
  • Accurate, appropriate and timely entry of records in Victim Support databases and systems.

  • Excellent phone manner and communication skills 
  • Good team player with exceptional people skills 
  • Computer literate and proficient with databases, excel and word 
  • Competent at making decisions and prioritising competing tasks and demands, accurately and independently 
  • Empathy and understanding of the impact of crime and trauma on victims.
