About us
Based in beautiful Whanganui Te Oranganui is a kaupapa Māori organisation who offers a range of health and wellbeing services for whānau in the Whanganui region and surrounding districts.

Are you an uri of Te Atihaunui a Pāpārangi, Ngā Wairiki-Ngāti Apa, or Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi and currently studying in a health-related field? Te Oranganui invites you to apply for one of four paid summer internships designed to support your journey and strengthen iwi health capability.
Internship Opportunities:
- Te Manawanui Pauro Memorial Internship & Scholarship: For students studying Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) - $4,485.00 + $1,500 Study Grant
- Dennis Wharetini Ratana Memorial Internship: For students studying Health, Māori Health, Social Work or Health-related degrees - $4,485.00
- Ngarini Phillips Memorial Internship: For students studying a Bachelor-level Health-related qualification - $4,485.00
- Niko Tangaroa Memorial Internship: For students studying Mental Health and Addictions at a Bachelor or Postgraduate level - $4,485.00
Internship Details:
- Duration: 5 weeks paid work (150 hours total, 30hrs per week)
- Period: Internship must be completed between November 2026 and February 2027
- Location: Te Oranganui, 133 Wicksteed Street, Whanganui
Eligibility:
- Must whakapapa to one of the three iwi listed above
- Registered on iwi register (evidence required)
- In second or subsequent year of study (bachelor or post graduate level)
- Must provide proof of enrolment and previous year’s completion
- NZ citizen or resident
