Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

The Student Success Navigator Tairāwhiti is a full-time permanent role and enables students to navigate their study pathway and access appropriate support internally and externally. This role provides pastoral care for Te Toka Māori and Pasifika Trade Training and Youth Guarantee students, while also delivering administrative support for the Te Toka initiative. It involves monitoring student progress, coordinating events, and ensuring strong engagement to support success.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $54,210 and $67,763, dependent on skills and experience.
The Student Success Navigator is based at Tairāwhiti Campus, reporting to the Student Support Services Manager, and will be responsible for:

  • Providing pastoral care and guidance to Te Toka and Youth Guarantee students.
  • Monitoring attendance, engagement, and academic progress.
  • Coordinating events and supporting evaluation for improvement.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and reporting.
  • Liaising with tutors, schools, and support services to ensure student success.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience providing support to students in a tertiary environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with Māori and Pasifika students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Digital literacy and knowledge of community support services.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (preferred).
