Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

The Student Success Navigator is a permanent full-time position that supports Māori and Pasifika ākonga enrolled in Te Ara o Takitimu Māori & Pasifika Trades Training and Youth Guarantee programmes. The role provides pastoral support, monitors student engagement, coordinates administrative processes, and assists with event delivery to enhance learner success and wellbeing.

In this role you will: 

  • Provide pastoral support to Te Ara o Takitimu and Youth Guarantee students.
  • Monitor student attendance, engagement, and academic progress.
  • Follow up on absences and liaise with tutors and relevant staff.
  • Build strong, positive relationships that encourage learner participation.
  • Refer students to appropriate internal or external support services.
  • Record all student interactions and progress notes in student management systems.
  • Maintain and monitor driver‑licensing tracking systems and ensure accurate student records.
  • Organise consortia meetings and provide administrative support as needed.
  • Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Te Ara o Takitimu and Student Support Services events.
  • Attend required meetings, maintain cross‑campus relationships, follow organisational policies, and complete other duties as assigned.

You will be student‑centred, approachable, organised, and confident working with Māori and Pasifika learners. You bring strong communication skills, digital capability, and experience supporting students in an educational setting.

You will have:

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience providing support in tertiary or youth settings.
  • Experience working with Māori and Pasifika learners.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Digital literacy and ability to work with student systems.
  • Understanding or appreciation of Te Reo me ōna tikanga.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification is an advantage.
  • This is a core children’s worker role and requires safety checking under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.

Desirable:

  • Marketing or promotional skills.
  • Tertiary sector experience.
